In alignment with the Government of India’s visionary ‘Make in India’ initiative and its strong push for indigenisation in the Defence sector, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and MBDA — two leaders in their respective domains — have established a joint venture L&T MBDA Missile Systems Limited (LTMMSL). Incorporated in FY18, the company was formed with the objective of developing and supplying state-of-the-art missile systems tailored to meet the growing requirements of the Indian Armed Forces.
L&T, India’s premier engineering and technology conglomerate, brings decades of experience in Defence manufacturing, platform design, precision engineering, systems integration, and innovation. L&T has played a critical role in advancing India’s Defence production capabilities across land, sea, air, and space domains.
MBDA, a global leader in missile systems, brings unmatched technological depth, domain expertise, and a rich legacy of successful Defence programmes — including Meteor, Storm Shadow / SCALP, Exocet, and the Aster family of missiles. With a presence across the world, MBDA has consistently delivered combat-proven missile solutions to armed forces worldwide.
Together, LTMMSL reflects the synergy of these two industry giants, combining L&T’s industrial excellence with MBDA’s cutting-edge missile technologies to create a truly world-class missile product in India. LTMMSL is focused on building and enhancing indigenous capabilities in design, development, manufacturing, and integration of guided weapons and missile systems within India.
LTMMSL is committed to supporting India’s Defence acquisition policies, especially under the ‘Buy (Indian-IDDM)’ and ‘Buy (Indian)’ categories. With a strong emphasis on technology transfer, local value addition, and self-reliance, LTMMSL aims to serve as a key enabler in India’s journey towards Self Reliance in Defence.
